Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,

I want to first give thanks to God and the work of his Holy Spirit within all of you. You have remained faithful and dedicated, to supporting Christ’s Church at Union Hill UMC, through your prayers, presence, gifts and service! It has truly been a time of challenge and a time to rethink how to reach beyond the confines and the quarantine to be Christ’s hands and feet in a hurting world. I believe that the more we focus on communicating with each other, and showing the love of Christ for one another, we will see victory over this crisis, that at times appears to have the upper hand in our society.

I know at the present time, there is an increasing number of COVID 19 cases in many of our surrounding counties including our very own. There’s a growing number of our family members, friends, and even our church family, that are being quarantined, or have contracted COVID 19. I believe that the hand of God has been so generous to all of us, who call Union Hill UMC their home church throughout this pandemic! But I also believe that we need to continue to be as proactive as possible in handling this virus as wisely as possible. Our number one priority needs to be keeping our church as safe as possible for all that are part of this body of believers!

We’ve already postponed starting in-person Sunday school classes due to the rising concern. And as of November 5th, Administrative Council has postponed in person worship services until our county is out of the “Red” risk level. We will continue to hold meetings in the Fellowship Hall, practicing social distancing and mask wearing. You are required to spray down your meeting area with sanitizing spray after each meeting. We are also activating our drive thru offering and prayer request station on each Wednesday from 10:00am until 12:00, or you can send in your offering to our office. We office hours will remain the same, as long as we are still in the “Red Level”.

We have some great news about our broadcasting of worship services. We have received our new camera equipment that will truly enhance the quality of our service viewing, plus give us the ability to post our worship service on YouTube, and our Church website, along with Facebook. What a blessing that will be for all our viewers!

Once our county returns to the “Orange” risk level, we will plan to reopen in-person worship services with the same requirements of mask wearing, social distancing, and regular hand sanitizing. Please be in prayer for our decisions as our leaders within the church consider the safest way to move forward during this challenging time. Thank you, and may God continue to surround you with His presence, provision, and protection.

“For I am thoroughly convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.   – Romans 8:38,39

                                                                        in His grip,        Pastor Larry
